This policy explains what Hearthmakers stores about you when you play on a server run by The Gearfinder Studios ("we", "us"), in a browser or as a Discord Activity. We keep only what the game needs to work. We don't show ads, sell data, or use analytics or tracking.
What the game server stores
- Your account: your username, your password as a salted scrypt hash (never the password itself), hashes of your login sessions, and when the account was created.
- What you play: your characters (name, appearance, attributes, levels, items and gear), your realms and the changes made to them, your blueprints, and your colonists, workbenches and storage.
- Social: your friends, friend requests, the players you block, and your party.
- Chat: the most recent lines of each chat channel, party and private conversation (up to 50 lines each), so they show again when you come back. Older lines are discarded.
- Board posts written by server admins, with the author's name.
Your account name, character names, what you build and what you say in chat are visible to the other players who share those places with you.
If you sign in with Discord
When you sign in with Discord, Discord asks you to allow the game to:
- know who you are (
identify): your Discord user ID and username; -
check your membership (
guilds.members.read) of the Discord server the game server requires, if it requires one; -
show what you play (
rpc.activities.write) on your Discord profile: where you are in the game, the character you play and the size of your party.
We store your Discord user ID on your account, to recognise you the next time. Your Discord username may be offered as your initial account name. Membership is checked each time you sign in and is not stored. Your Discord access token is passed back to your own Discord client, which needs it to show what you play; we don't store it, and we don't read your messages, friends or other servers.
Network data
Connecting to a server necessarily sends it your IP address. The game doesn't save IP addresses with your account or game data.
What stays in your browser
The game keeps some things in your browser's local storage: your settings, the list of servers you added, your session token (so you stay logged in), and your solo worlds. They never leave your device, except the session token, which is sent to that server when you connect. Clearing your browser's site data removes them. We don't use cookies.
Third parties
- Discord, if you play through Discord or sign in with it, under Discord's Privacy Policy.
- GitHub Pages hosts this website. It may log your visit as any web host does.
Servers run by other people are not covered by this policy: their operators decide what they keep.
How long we keep it
We keep your account and game data until you ask us to delete it, or until the server's data is reset during development.
Your choices
You can ask us for a copy of your data, to correct it, or to delete your account and everything tied to it. To do so, contact us on our Discord server. You can also remove the game's access to your Discord account at any time in Discord's settings, under Authorized Apps.
Children
The game is not meant for children under 13, and we don't knowingly keep data about them. If you believe a child under 13 has an account, contact us and we'll delete it.
Changes
We may update this policy. The date at the top shows the latest version, and we'll announce significant changes on our Discord server.

Questions about privacy can be sent to The Gearfinder Studios on our Discord server. See also our Terms of Service.
